it's an internet community challenge to write 14 songs in the 28 days of February, basically, but much more is built, made and done from that basic premise. I've been participating for a decade now and it's the best online community I know, truly. and you should consider joining us for this year's edition. ​

I just submitted my next #music release for distribution. it's the 2nd volume of my #JUVENILIA collection, comprised of unheard works of mine made in 2003 (20 years ago, I was 12-13 ys-old!!!) and it will be out on June 30th, with the Bandcamp edition containing exclusive bonus tracks. #musodon

I apparently mapped out my #music release schedule for this whole year. now let's see if I can actually MAKE IT HAPPEN, lol. [nervous laughter]

this will be the year I will make a glorified data dump and release everything I could salvage from The Great HDD Failure of 2021, which made me lose a whole decade of my life, in broad terms. it's 10 volumes of this + 2 JUVENILIA volumes. it's gonna be a total of more than 10h of music I will be throwing out into the world from June to December! #musodon

hey fedizens, how's everything? I have a question for my #musodon #musician peeps: have any of you ever used @fdroidorg as a way of distributing music? I ask this because on the page about their Repomaker tool (https://f-droid.org/en/repomaker/) they say:

"F-Droid.org is just a repo out of hundreds of repos created by individuals all around the globe. With the tools of F-Droid, everyone can create their own repo. So whether you are a musician who wants to publish their music or a developer who wants to serve nightly builds of their app, you are free to create your own repo and share it with other people independently of F-Droid.org."

I've been wanting to try my hand at it to see if this use case is really viable and would like to know if anyone else already experimented. what say y'all? ​

EDIT: things that are not based on the US and things that are not led by white men are greatly appreciated. we need this kind of paradigm shift if we want to avoid being on a shitty tech loop.

on November 30th I'll be releasing the 3rd volume of my JUVENILIA collection and it will be available on #Bandcamp, @itchio, Gumroad and commercial streaming platforms. am still looking on how I can also release this on a self-hosted solution to cover as many bases as I can. will be looking at suggestions made by other fedizens on my #Bandcamp alternatives thread (https://toot.cairobraga.com/@cairobraga/111250381136896217) to find a good solution for myself.

there's something very clear to me regarding my musical career: I don't want any cis white straight man involved in it as far as I can control. if I have the opportunity to work in a proper studio one day, I want all the audio tech/engineer team to be women and nonbinary people. I want to intentionally work with fellow immigrants and POC. I want people to read the credits of my work and notice there's not a single cis man listed. maybe then they'll notice how the complete fucking opposite happens all the fucking time since fucking forever? I can only hope. #musodon #music

I prepared 4 songs for it, but only was able to finish 2 in time for release date. sometimes it happens when you're a "dayjobber" musician. I wanna thank @wiloma not only for running #NetlabelDay so brilliantly but also for cheering me on to make this release. despite the hardships, I am very proud of the 2 songs I was able to make, they are weird and mean a lot to me. I hope they resonate with you too. ​
